We fish for King Salmon, Halibut, White Sea Bass, Rock cod, Lingcod, Dungeness Crab and Albacore Tuna. We provide all Rods, Reels, Tackle and Bait needed & are very knowledgeable of the best fishing spots on the Monterey Bay, for whatever species of fish is in season.
With many years of experience and courteous patience, we love providing a fun, safe and educational adventure for people of all ages and fishing levels.
Captain Rodney Armstrong
Captain Rodney has now been running his own charter for 7 years. He has been commercial fishing and charter fishing for the past 15 years. He has captained for other charter businesses as well as commercial crab boats.
“I am an avid fisherman and have been fishing on the Monterey Bay since I was a child. I have over 15 years of professional fishing experience, deck-handing on other charter boats, commercial fishing on salmon and crab boats, as well as commercial salmon fishing on the Knot Alone for the past 15 years.
I am also an avid steel head fisherman and have fished all over California and Oregon. I’ve ran jet boats, rowed many drift boats, and hiked many miles on the rivers.
This is my 6th year now having my own charter fishing business, and it has been going great! All of my customers have had wonderful experiences. I love putting people on the fish, especially the kids as I have three of my own that love fishing as well.”
The Knot Alone

The Knot Alone is a 35' long 12' wide Maine Coaster lobster boat, with plenty of fishing room on a spacious deck. We have a large awning for weather protection, and a bathroom on board for extra convenience.
Powered by a 315 horsepower Volvo diesel engine, The Knot Alone runs on top of the line Furuno auto pilot, a Furuno fish finder with 64 mile radar, Furuno GPS, and a Garmin touch screen GPS. Cruising at a comfortable 14 knots, The Knot Alone is among the smoothest and most comfortable in the Monterey Bay area.

“Best time of my life!! The Salmon Streaker and Rodney will put you on fish !! It was a great deal. I went out with 5 other friends 6 total and the epic boat ride to the fishing took longer than the fishing. Instant bite and limits quick. We were so stoked. “Captain Rodney and his deck hand Steve are great people!! Took us out to the deep water where we loaded up on Rockfish, Linqcod, and some type of sole! Great boat, fun day, great fishing and good people! Nothing more you could ask for. Afterward, Steve cleaned and filleted all our fish! Poor guy took him hours because we had 25 fish! I would recommend going with these guys anytime and will be going again someday soon for a salmon run.
